how can i claim from my small business insurance or life insurance? i recently had an incident outside?

Posted by admin

infront of my house, intruder attempted to stab me. i have personal injuries. doctor recommended rest atleast 6 mos.

i have both small business insurance and life insurance thru travelers and prudential.

plz advice where can i claim from?

As several posters explained neither the small business insurance nor the life insurance can assist you with a personal disability and/or injury claim. However, you still might want to check since there is a new life policy that includes coverage for disability and/or you might at least have the provision that allows you to forgo paying your premium while on disability. Another thought is that if you have a cash value life insurance policy, i.e. a Universal Life or Whole Life, the policy might have enough money in "savings" to give you a loan which will help your current cash flow situation. You should contact your agent to discuss these options.

In addition double check if you have any other short term disability coverage–the type that pays some of their specific bills, i.e. some people purchase this on their car loans, on credit cards, through their bank or even if they are members of certain trade associations.

The other options are checking to see if your city, state or county has a crime victims compensation fund–some of these funds help with medical bills, medicines, equipment and lost wages. While the amount is not usually large any little bit will help.

And consider getting a free consultation from an attorney to review your options vis a vis suing the perpetrator–this would be a real long shot in my opinion since he is probably broke but who knows. He might have just been released from a state mental health clinic and maybe you can go after the state for releasing this threat onto the public? or some other third party liability!

I am sorry that this happened to you. However, do look at the bright side you survived! And you will get over this and be stronger and more compassionate it for it.

Good Luck!

Whats the best avenue in obtaining Small business Liability Insurance?

Posted by admin

My husband runs a small business, but has had trouble obtaining small business insurance. He has contacted many local companies, and noone seems to return phone calls these days. We live in the Wilmington NC area. Does anyone have any advice on this? Is it best to go with a local company or can you find it elsewhere? Any suggestions on reputable companies? We have hit a road block and any sincere, knowledgeable advice will be greatly appreciated!

Use this site to find an independent agent in your area. An independent agent represents more than one company so they have a better chance of having a company that will be able to write the insurance he needs.

What is the price range for small business insurance packages?

Posted by admin

I have a question for my personal finance class that asks:
Search the internet and name your sources for a small business insurance package. Identify basic areas of risk that they cover. How much would such a package cost?
I’ve found the basic areas of risk covered, however i can’t find price ranges anywhere and all the offices are closed when i call, except for one that said they can’t do it over the phone…

Well, they can’t do it over the phone because there are way, way too many variables.

A safe range to use, is $500 to $150,000. Yep, 95% of small business insurance packages will fall in that range.

It depends on what they do, what they need covered, where they are located, and of course, the rating basis.

Sorry, I don’t think this is much help.
