What kind of costs would I be looking at for a yearly small business insurance liability policy?
Posted by admin
Can anyone give me a round about idea of the yearly cost for a bond/general liability policy for a small cleaning business with only 1 employee in NY? Does $1-2 thousand sound about right?
General liability with one person cleaning, gross receipts under $75,000 is going to run around $1500 a year.
A "bond" is going to run around $250, but doesn’t mean what you think it means, and basically you don’t need it anyway. You’ll have to guarantee the bond amount if it’s a start up business, which means, post $5,000 or however much you want the bond to be for.
Bonds for janitorial services, people ask about them here about twice a week. No one really needs them, unless you’re doing government work.
Are there any Health Insurance Providers/Policies that cover Homeopathic and/or Alternative Practitioners?
Posted by admin
My homeopathic practitioner discovered the cause for my allergies within 10 minutes compared to NO ANSWER in seven visits to conventional doctors. I’m paying 100% for alternative treatments while concurrently paying expensive monthly health care insurance that I rarely use. I’d like to get insurance that covers homeopathic and alternative treatments.
Thanks for posting this question. I’ve switched my whole family over to alternative medicine. 2 of us have gone to an alternative doctor so far and it has cured both of them of all their ailments, compared to 2 years of my stepdaughter going to a regular doctor for her allergies and nothing, nada–they coulnd’t figure it out either! However, alternative meds are expensive and I looked around for an insurance company as well, I couldn’t find one. But I see this other gentleman said that many are offering it now, that tells me I need to start looking again! Thanks!
How do I get individual health insurance quotes for North Carolina?
Posted by admin
I am currently living in New York State and am considering moving to North Carolina. How do I get individual health insurance quotes while still living in NYS? All the websites ask you to provide a North Carolina address which I do not have yet.
Thank you.
You contact a local, independent agent in NC. They’ll be able to give you a ‘ball park". HOWEVER, if you’re under 30 and healthy, it’s going to cost about $200 a month. If you have problems, you’re likely not going to be insurable, depending on their seriousness. Or it could cost you $500 a month.
does my employer who recieves a group rate for health insurance have to offer it to me?
Posted by admin
I have been at my job for 2 and a half years and both my boss, his wife and son have health insurance through their business at a group rate and all three are employees, but they have not offered it to any of my coworkers or myself. Is this against health insurance policies, to recieve a group rate but not pay for other employee portions or even offer if they want it?
Depends on how the employees are classed. If they offer it to all salaried employees, but not hourly employees, that’s fine. Or they can offer it to all executive officers, or all board members, and that’s fine, without offering it to non executives or non board members. It’s very, very easy to divide employees into different classes – one you want to insure, and one you don’t.
Obviously, you can’t offer to some salaried without offering it to all, UNLESS you ALSO have a class of "board members" or such. The health insurance company is going to require a total list of employees, and a class of employee, to be sure that the employer is insuring (usually at least 75%) of the class they offer benefits to.
The OBVIOUS answer here, is to tell your boss, health insurance is an issue, and tell them you need group health insurance. And if he turns you down on it, then start shopping around for another job, where you WOULD have health benefits.
New health insurance plan for small business with the state.?
Posted by admin
State of TN helps small businesses with health insurance plans for employees. The employer pays 1/3, state pays 1/3, employee pays rest.
What is the question?
I assume that you’re asking "which plan is best?" Or are you asking how to do it?
When you go into business, a good insurance agent (perhaps one for each specialty) is invaluable. The best news is that you don’t pay them until you buy from them!!! If you don’t view your agent(s) as part of your "team" then you’re missing a huge source of good info (or don’t trust the agent, which is your clue to fire them).
There is no free lunch… the more you want, the more it costs. I’d personally investigate self-insurance the little stuff, then offering a major medical plan w/ a high dedictible for the big stuff. That’s what I do (lesser plan, bigger out of pocket, for cost savings).
The only difference between companies is basically the level of service. Some companies are really horrible at claims, plan changes, premium collection, etc.
Finally, health insurance varies widely (and wildly!) from state to state. Be thankful you don’t live in New Jersey….. So, any specific advice you might get here will need to be specific to TN.
Good luck y’all….
